Assemblies and End of Quarter Fun

Every other Monday afternoon, Jr. High students gather in the gym for an assembly.  At these assemblies, teachers make announcements and review current and upcoming activities.  Homeroom classes rotate the responsibility of planning a game or activity for the assembly.

At the end of each academic quarter, junior high students and teachers take a break from their usual routine and go on an outing.  Adventures may include a trip to Centerville Beach, the movies, roller-skating, swimming, or bowling.

Eighth Grade Buddies

At the beginning of each year, eighth grade students are assigned a kindergarten buddy. Every other Monday, (alternating with assembiles) the classes get together  for activities that  reinforce what the kindergartners have been learning in the classroom. The buddy program helps foster a sense of community within our school.

Dances

Junior high students enjoy planning and attending several school dances a year.  In September, a BBQ dinner and dance is hosted by the parents. A more formal dance is held sometime in the winter.  The last dance of the year is the graduation dance that is held on the last day of school. This is the only dance with a live disc jockey and always has a special theme, chosen by the graduating class. The graduates choose the theme and the seventh grade students plan, prepare, and decorate for the dance.  Last year's graduation dance theme was Candy Land.
